Variation characteristics of extreme climate events in Southwest China from 1961 to 2017

Climate change is increasing the intensity of extreme climate events. Significant impacts events on human society and ecosystem have occurred in many places world, for example, Southwest China (SWC). In this study, daily temperature precipitation data from 438 meteorological stations are used to analyze variation characteristics SWC 1961 2017. The annual warm show a significant trend at 99% confidence level most stations, few with decreasing mainly located southern Sichuan Province, northern Yunnan Province western Guizhou Province. Meanwhile, cold an distributed Basin. Both heavy indexes rainstorm nonsignificant trends, but they differ greatly spatial distribution. These Tibet, Chongqing parts trends 95% level, while those central southeastern trends. percentage shows especially northeastern Sichuan, central-eastern Yunnan. Overall, under background global warming, increase significantly 2017, decrease significantly. different regions, increases
